Where do I get a working cord for installing rear glass? I need to replace the weatherstrip for the rear glass on my car and my shop manual says to apply a working cord to the weatherstrip to facilitate glass installation. Where can i buy a working cord? And also, do i need to apply any sort of adhesive to the weatherstrip or does it just stay in by itself?
How do I adjust a rough wall opening to fit glass block installation.? I am trying to brighten up a bathroom by installing glass block window through an interior wall between the bathroom and bedroom. The joists are on 16 in centres but that does not allow for a nice fit. I probably need to cut off one of the joists in the opening and add another, just not sure how to add a side to the opening
Skylight secondary-glass installation? We have a single pane, (very inefficient) skylight with both heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer. We would like to install a second pane of glass as close to the first pane as possible for more energy efficency here in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. We have been told to contact a local glass manufacturer for residential glass. We have been told that they can sell us dead-light glass or laminated glass. How do we search for a local glass dealer who will work with us. Everything we can think of is not helping us find a list of residential glass companies. Thanks.

Glass Tile Installation? So I want to put glass tile on my backsplash. I picked out the tile and I'm not sure if I want to call a professional. I've tiled before but never glass. I guess you need a special wet saw that won't chip the glass and epoxy grout is suppose to be the best. Should I do this myself? If so where can I rent the wet saw I need?

Fiber glass pink installation....???? Ok, this has been a huge aruement with my family.... When installing the pink fiber glass installation UNDER your house... How much is a sheet of glass per square metre? I am interested in a £/m² price for a pane of glass. I'm not too bothered about the thickness, but for argument's sake lets say 5mm. I'm not actually looking to buy any, I'm doing some research. I don't need installation costs, frame costs or anything else, just a few prices per square metre (or foot, I'm easy) of standard clear float glass. Thanks.

What's the cost to replace 9 windows, 2 skylights and a sliding glass door? Nothing fancy, simple. High energy star rating. Skylights don't open, windows are double pane and not double hung. Sliding glass door and all windows are medium size - small. Skylights are 22x22. I live in pacific NW. Trying to get a round about cost. Looking at Milgard. All inclusive: windows & installation. But please separate the 2. Thanks!
fiber glass installation.......??? I asked this question a few days ago. I got a lot of people saying both...so I'm not sure which is right yet.. Someone in my family had installation put under his house. It's the type of installation that's pink fiber glass on one side and paper on the other. The people who did it put the paper side up, towards the floor and pink side down. So when you look under the house you can see the pink. Some family members say it's done right, and some say it's done wrong (upside down) WHICH IS THE RIGHT WAY!!!!! If you have any websites that can back it up post a link please, if not just tell me which way you think is right! THANK YOU!!!!
What would my punishment be if i had a glass of wine and pork dinner in Saudia Arabia? Saudi Arabia is a fundamentalist Muslim country in which Islamic law is strictly enforced. No alcohol, pork products or religious books and artefacts not related to Islam are permitted in the country. There are no bars in Saudi Arabia, and alcohol is served nowhere to anyone of any religious persuasion. Dress should be conservative at all times, and women should take particular care not to offend. Visitors are advised to familiarise themselves with behaviour and dress codes before entering the country. Photography of local people, government buildings, military installations and palaces is not allowed, and women are not permitted to drive. Religious customs should be respected, particularly during the month of Ramadan when eating, drinking and smoking during daylight hours should be discreet as it is forbidden by the Muslim culture. Do these rules only apply to Arabs/Muslims or tourists too.

glass tile installation? I have selected 2 inch frosted glass tile for the backsplash behind the cooktop and I have hired a professional installer. I have two issues. One is that he says the grout lines are small and the job does not need to be sealed because it will make the grout darker. And two...when he cut the tile for the sides and corners, the color came off the back and he is telling me I need to have a moulding installed to hide these pieces that have lost their color.. He says all glass tile loses it's color when cut into small pieces. What's up? Should I go back to the manufacturerregarding the color loss, and should I insist that it be sealed to protect against grease and splashes.
How to straighten crooked power outlets after glass mosaic tiles installation? My husband and I installed glass mosaic tiles few weeks ago. After having few contractors canceling on us, we decided to do it ourselves even though we had no experience. Many people convinced us that we could do it and it wasn't so difficult. We did our research for weeks (reading, watching videos, consulting experienced people, internet. etc.) But, no one told us about pulling the power outlets out before installation. We never did! When we were ready to put the outlet plates back in, we noticed our big mistake. There was grout surrounding the power outlets and few tiles in the way. My husband tried to remove the dry grout as much as possible without breaking the tiles. Still most outlets look crooked and not leveled with the plates. We don't know what to do. It is so sad that after working so hard and having a pretty decent result something like this ruins it!. Could this be fixed without breaking the tiles? Any recommendations? They will be greatly appreciated.

How much is the labor cost for the installation of glass tile? We had the following glass tile installed in our bathroom: - Shower walls 60 sqft. with a 4x4 glass tile - Backsplash 12 sqft with a 3x6 glass tile - shelf in front of the mirrors 3.5 sqft with a 4x4 glass tile We provided all of the materials and now got a bill for $2,900 in pure labor. We live in the Los Angeles area. For not even three days of work this seems a little steep. Can anybody let me know if this bill is justified or how much it should be?? I read somewhere labor for glass tile should be no more than $10/sft. Please help!!
What is the origin of the first living cell? If one believes that a living cell can come into existence by coincidence, then there is nothing to prevent one from believing a similar story that we will relate below. It is the story of a town: One day, a lump of clay, pressed between the rocks in a barren land, becomes wet after it rains. The wet clay dries and hardens when the sun rises, and takes on a stiff, resistant form. Afterwards, these rocks, which also served as a mould, are somehow smashed into pieces, and then a neat, well shaped, and strong brick appears. This brick waits under the same natural conditions for years for a similar brick to be formed. This goes on until hundreds and thousands of the same bricks have been formed in the same place. However, by chance, none of the bricks that were previously formed are damaged. Although exposed to storm, rain, wind, scorching sun, and freezing cold for thousands of years, the bricks do not crack, break up, or get dragged away, but wait there in the same place with the same determination for other bricks to form. When the number of bricks is adequate, they erect a building by being arranged sideways and on top of each other, having been randomly dragged along by the effects of natural conditions such as winds, storms, or tornadoes. Meanwhile, materials such as cement or soil mixtures form under "natural conditions", with perfect timing, and creep between the bricks to clamp them to each other. While all this is happening, iron ore under the ground is shaped under "natural conditions" and lays the foundations of a building that is to be formed with these bricks. At the end of this process, a complete building rises with all its materials, carpentry, and installations intact. Of course, a building does not only consist of foundations, bricks, and cement. How, then, are the other missing materials to be obtained? The answer is simple: all kinds of materials that are needed for the construction of the building exist in the earth on which it is erected. Silicon for the glass, copper for the electric cables, iron for the columns, beams, water pipes, etc. all exist under the ground in abundant quantities. It takes only the skill of "natural conditions" to shape and place these materials inside the building. All the installations, carpentry, and accessories are placed among the bricks with the help of the blowing wind, rain, and earthquakes. Everything has gone so well that the bricks are arranged so as to leave the necessary window spaces as if they knew that something called glass would be formed later on by natural conditions. Moreover, they have not forgotten to leave some space to allow the installation of water, electricity and heating systems, which are also later to be formed by coincidence. Everything has gone so well that "coincidences" and "natural conditions" produce a perfect design. If you have managed to sustain your belief in this story so far, then you should have no trouble surmising how the town's other buildings, plants, highways, sidewalks, substructures, communications, and transportation systems came about. If you possess technical knowledge and are fairly conversant with the subject, you can even write an extremely "scientific" book of a few volumes stating your theories about "the evolutionary process of a sewage system and its uniformity with the present structures". You may well be honoured with academic awards for your clever studies, and may consider yourself a genius, shedding light on the nature of humanity. The theory of evolution, which claims that life came into existence by chance, is no less absurd than our story, for, with all its operational systems, and systems of communication, transportation and management, a cell is no less complex than a city.

Where should I get my '03 Honda's windshield replaced? Dealer? Come-to-you auto glass operation? Other? I have a crack stretching 3/4 of the way across the windshield of my 2003 honda accord. I obviously need to get it replaced. I figure an auto glass specialist will be better at the installations, but the dealer will have a higher quality/better fit OEM windshield. Do any of you who know more than I do have any suggestions? I lived in Brooklyn my whole life up until last year, so this is my first car and I'm not too wise on the maintenance. Thanks!
Should I choose retrofit or new construction windows? I have a 50 year old house with aluminum frames and stucco exterior. I don't intend to change the shape or size of the windows I'm replacing. Likely going to use the Simonton narrow-line series to maximize glass area. Assuming good installation, does one seal better than the other? How much more ongoing maintenance does retrofit require? Is new construction worth the 33%-50% more cost that I'm being quoted? Anything other factors I should consider in making this decision?
can anyone tell me any rough price for tempered glass ? I am doing some preliminary estimating for my dream home and I want to know the ballpark price of glass with or without installation. I want to go with an post modern feel using natural materials so I am going to wrap the glass all the way around the house on both levels so it is all stone and glass. I will use whatever dimensions are most cost effective. I would like between four and five feet in height but if it comes in 4x8 foot sheets i can lay sideways and get more bang for the buck. I just need to know what sizes are most common and how much per sheet (good quality!!!) any help is greatly appreciated. especially links to pricing sources. thanx for the input so far. i am just curious though I am not nearly ready yet. my dream house looks like it will run me upwards of 1.5 million as it stands now but i have way over estrimated on a lot of things so far and so I think I can trim that to a million even. (like i said DREAM house)

What is the cost of installation for French Doors? We have typical sliding glass doors leading from our family room to our patio. Not considering the cost to purchase the doors themselvses, how much should we expect to pay for the removal of the sliders and the installation of new french doors? i.e. Home Depot/Lowes, etc.
Does anyone have any information about the Installation among the ruins on Via dei Fori Imperiali, Rome? Does anyone have any information about the Installation among the ruins on the southern side of Via dei Fori Imperiali. It is between Piazza Venezia and Piazza dei Colosseo. Large panes of fractured glass covering much of the ground between the columns with low boxes that have white frames and red tops. The piece's name? The artist ? I HAVE TRACKED THE INSTALLATION DOWN "Alfredo Pirri ‘s work consists in the creation of a floor made of cracked mirrors, measuring over 400 square metres, which following ancient traces replaces the travertine surface originally delimitating the public area in Caesar’s Forum. The exhibition can be seen from Via dei Fori Imperiali. "
How to install windows vista recovery disk? hey guys, thanks for taking the time to look at my question. My issue is that I have an expired version on windows vista on my computer and now I have a windows vista recovery disk from dell (my desk top's manufacturer) and I cannot get past the screen that would let me continue the installation process. It just constantly shows an hour glass. Does anyone know if I am using the correct disk? or what should I do to get windows working normally again?
Whats the cheapest way to replace a window? Recently I came home from a night of heavy drinking and tripped over a skateboard and fell into a window at my new rental house. The window does not need to be expensive, possibly the least expensive it can be. It's roughly 3FTX2FT, and my roommate is capable of the installation. If I go to Lowes, or Home Depot, or something similar, how much would it be to purchase a sheet of glass of that measurement? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Where can I get a glass fence in Houston, Texas? I need a supplier for materials or a contractor that my pool contractor can sub-contract for installation of a clear plexiglass or tempered glass (I haven't decided which yet) fence around my swimming pool (approx 100 linear feet). I am located in a suburb of Houston, Texas so the closer to me, the better. Sorry about the repeat. I would prefer a frameless or semi-frameless fence, if possible. I have seen many installers from California advertising but I don't know how to find out the supplier to see if they will ship to Houston. I've done a web search and found very little.
Does anyone have information on where I can find hardware for multi-panel bi-folding doors? The panels need to be glass and preferably wood framed. Is is cheaper to buy the hardware separate from the panels? Will buying the parts separate possibly cause installation difficulties that could have been avoided if all the parts were instead bought from the same manufacturer (and/or sold in one complete do-it yourself kit)? Is it possible to keep this do-it yourself project under $2000?
Installing glass block in a doorway questions.? I'm remodeling a home and it has a 24" wide door. The home is completely block and after taking out the door and metal frame will leave me a 28" opening. I was going to cement block it up leaving me with room for 3 rows of glass block above it to reach the top of the opening. I'm new to glass block personally; but I have installed brick, block, tile, and other cement type installation. Does anyone have any advice on how to install them or which way would be best? Also, would I need to build a header for such a small opening if the block is left undamaged above?
How much should I pay for sliding glass doors? We have two 8' sliding glass doors in our condo that need to be replaced. A few months ago, we had a couple of contractors come out for estimates and the estimates were in the $3,000-$3,700 range just to replace two doors. I think that's way too much, but they said the doors were tall and had to be custom made. I think paying $1000 or less for each door including installation would have been more reasonable. Where can I go to get a good price and quality installation on doors? In response to the first answer, it's the doors and the frame. The doors are probably 20 years old and don't have rollers on them. The frame is starting to corrode and the locking mechanism is very primitive. I figure since the frame needs replacement, I might as well get the whole door. The quotes I've gotten are for vinyl doors that are added onto the existing frame.
how to solve window in shower unit? 1954 house.Have a SPARE bathroom with a window in shower/tub. Currently do not use the shower. Have frosted window. I do not want to ruin the window mold and rot by taking a shower. Brick on other side. Need idea's. Could take the window completely out and block with brick or use a shower curtain (which I dearly hate this thought). I thought there could be a product to buy that installs such a problem. I even consider this idea, but unsure this would work. Use the new type glass block they now have and install this completely in the window. Yet unsure this will be a problem of mold or insulation issues. Surely there is a solution or a unknown installation window for such idea's. Any idea's or a product that solves my issue's?
Is installing a urinal in my home a good idea? I am buying a home and would like to renovate the large bathroom to include a wall mounted urinal for several reasons. First because my house seems to be the congregating are for the family we have high traffic. Secondly because I want to save money on water. And thirdly because set at the right height I'm hoping will eliminate some of the mess that we have here (My husband doesn't put on his glasses when he goes pee in the morning...Enough said.) due to the much shorter toilet. Also, it seems like we both always have to use the bathroom at the same time and it wouldn't look cool for us to have two toilets in one bathroom and I don't feel like adding another. My Dad is a plumber and would do the installation for free... So the question is... Does a urinal save money in the long run on water? How hard are they to clean? Some people say the stink...Is this true? Also, any other information would be useful too... P.S. I'm a girl so I don't have much knowledge of urinals...That's why I'm asking. Thanks
Does anyone have experience with window films for security? I am thinking of installing window film on my home windows to deter burglars. These films are suppose to prevent the glass from shattering, instead when they are hit the glass stays in place. They would require someone to violently hit the window over and over before the window would break out of the frame. Do they really work? Many of the companies I found online require professional installation and a pocket full of cash. One company, ConcordWindowFilm.com sells just the film, that you install yourself, at a really reasonable price. Does anyone have experience with the window films from this company that they installed themselves? Their installation instructions look pretty easy, and I understand the film has to be anchored down with Dow 995 Silicone Structural Adhesive. Thank you for your advice.
Installation of my Air conditioner? Looking to install my window A/C unit.I'm looking to fill in the void around my A/C unit with Plexi Glass. Any ideas on how to cut plexi glass?
What is the Secret that the NASA and US Government trying to hide for the past 50 years? They hide a secret from the world. Only a small group of people within the US government and NASA could access the information and material. The Cover up: A UFO crashed northwest of Roswell, New Mexico, in the summer of 1947. The military acted quickly and efficiently to recover the debris after its existence was reported by a ranch hand. The debris - unlike anything these highly trained men had ever seen - was flown without delay to at least three government installations. A cover story was concocted to explain away the debris and the flurry of activity. It was explained that a weather balloon, one with a new radiosonde target device, had been found and temporarily confused the personnel of the 509th Bomb Group. Government officials took reporters' notes from their desks and warned a radio reporter not to play a recorded interview with the ranch hand. The men who took part in the recovery were told never to talk about the incident. And with a whimper, not a bang, the Roswell event faded quickly from public view and press scrutiny. The Hidden Truth - In 1947, July 21. Top Scientists & Engineers are secretly call in to work on a project. A secret underground military installment in Nevada was used for that purpose in 1951. The materials they found are totally out of this world as described by the researchers. The hardest substance known today is aggregated diamond nanorods, with a hardness over 12 of and a stiffness 1.11 of diamond. (A polyyne was discovered in 2005 which are 40 times harder than diamond. It is a "superhard" molecular rod, comprised of acetylene units.) However the materials found in the wreckage seems to be over at least 150 times harder than a diamond and high melting point of 83,100 degrees as described in the top secret report to President Harry S. Truman in summer, 1948. The team of researchers also described a diamond glass (even harder than diamond as stated earlier) cylinder core of 50 cm wide and 3 meters tall. Inside the cylinder there are 12 (2 inches wide) cubes rotating randomly inside the center core at a very random speed emitting some form of electrons. The core eventually die out in 1970 in another Top secret report to President Richard Nixon. According to the team of researchers in 1947, they suggested that the UFO might have been damaged through entering Earth's atmosphere. However this theory was over thrown in 1965 when another team of researchers suggested the Alien craft was already mostly destroyed in space and its wreckage was left drifting in space. The craft could have been in the space for thousand of years and eventually captured by Earth's gravitational pull which resulted the crashed on Earth. According to carbon-14, the craft was between 10,000 to 12,000 years old. None of the reports mentioned about finding aliens aboard the alien craft. However one particular report in 1948, shows strong evidence that the craft is a manned craft and it will require at least 4 crews to fly it. If there were crews on board where are they ? Have they escaped the crash ? Or they disintegrated when they expose to our atmosphere ? Much questions are raise but little are answered. The secret team of researchers are known as "Sector 3", mainly because the team of researchers have special clearance in the 3 sector of military installment. The Sector 3 is say to be non existence even to the FBI, people within sector 3 will have at least 3 identities. According to a hidden act - The Sector 3 Agent has the right to detain anyone that are suspected to be in contact with Extra-Terrestrial and will only release information base on "need to know" basis. Sector 3 will only take orders from the president of the United States under very special circumstances. Currently there are at least 20 Sector 3 agents in NASA and SETI accordingly to the leaked source. - NASA was setup in 29th July 1958 - SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) was setup in 1960. The truth is kept secret. What else have the US and NASA been hiding ? This is certainly not a school essay.
Is it possible for a fiberglass front door to crack due to cold weather? ? New house (finished late 2008) - solid fiberglass door nothing special - probably at the lower end as far as quality and price (contractor special). Just installed full glass storm door within the last week. Temperatures have been in the 20's to around -5 F. Is it possible for the door to crack due to the weather. Do you think the builder will claim it was due to the storm door installation and deny repair or replacement? Could an argument be made that the door was defective?
Can i changed my mind on my custom made windows??? i signed a contract to have the windows installed in my home. They are custom made bay windows, now i wanted it changed to bow windows instead, they told me they can't do that because they already cut the frame/glass for bay window, i didn't receive the windows as yet still in factory..they told me i have to pay for the bay windows also for the installation even thought i don't want these windows, i don't know what to do :( i havn't paid for the windows, i dont have them in my home, why can't i just cancel it? or change it to something else, they want me to pay for the windows plus installation, can they do that?? thank you guys for responding i realized that i do have to pay for the bay windows, as it was custom made..that is fine..but why do i hav to pay for the installation?? if they are not going to installed it, i will pay for the window and try to see if i can sell it or gave it away what ever.. why should i have to pay the installation service when there's none???
PGT sliding glass door (pros only)? So after installing several(well maybe close to a hundred) of these units, my boss is reading the installation instructions and discovers the manufacturer requires a full bed of sealant under the threshold(obviously). But also the same between the head and the top of the RO. Question is how ya gonna do it without pushing the sealant out of the opening giving the correct 1/4 inch RO tolerances. Expanding foam is not an acceptable sealant. The extention is a logical solution although not very practical given possible variations in the gaps. At times we have zero tolerence.
Can you have exterior door side light glass panels ordered in different widths? I am trying to replace a exterior door with 2 side lites with the same type of set up. I am being told that I cannot have the same 2 side lites because the ones currently on the house were home made. I doubt that , the door was installed by the builder at the same time the home was built 17 years ago. Can I get different size side lites or side lites made to fit the current opening without paying a lot more than the home depot? I do not like the option the installer suggested of one side lite and a 2x4 to make it fit. He also said it will cost more than the regular installation. I dont want to pay more for something I do not like. Any good door companys in Port saint lucie Florida?
Drivers side window installation help? Ok, so I just got a 94 ford explorer and the drivers window was busted out and so I bought the glass and when my boyfriend and cousin went to put it in, the window bar goes DOWN ok, but coming back up it will go about 2 inches and then snap to the top really fast. Is that because there is no pressure from having a window, or is it because the motor is broken? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
2003 Cadillac Escalade driver-side mirror glass replacement? I need to replace the glass on the driver-side exterior mirror on a 2003 Cadillac Escalade as soon as possible. The enclosure is in perfect condition, all LEDs work and the motor works fine, all I need is a replacement for the glass part. Can anyone possibly place a link for a cheap part as such? I'm also assuming that it is the same mirror for a similar Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban; GMC Yukon, Yukon XL which may allow to be even cheaper. Also, if installation is easy, directions would be appreciated. Otherwise I can take it to a mechanic. Thank you very much. 110,000mi- out of warranty. Why are all the economists responding? I honestly don't care to hear about how much gas I use. The only time I use the truck is in the winter and when I'm hauling stuff or people. And in those cases, I'm still managing 19mpg which is damn fair for a 6.0-AWD ute of 03. Let's focus on the matter at hand. Please.
Mazda Soft Top Question? 2003 Mazda Miata Soft Top. Looking for installation instructions specific to the strap attachments for the cross bar above the glass rear window.
Question for architects or commercial (non-residential) contractors? I'm curious about something. Every time I see a building, such as a mall, where there is an large opening between two floors of a building to allow the installation of an escalator, or a plant spanning more than one floor, there is an [approx] 18" glass barrier hanging around the edge of the opening in the ceiling, with fire sprinklers running alongside it. Is the purpose of this to create a "wall of water" to prevent a fire from climbing from one floor to another via these openings? That's my guess, but I don't know. Just curious.
What industry to get into? I currently am a Business Administration Major with a focus in Management, working at a restaurant as a Quality Assurance Expeditor. I have been asked to move up in the restaurant (probably another store, part of a chain) for a management position. Problem is, I like the industry, but I am a devout vegetarian. I have enough problems working with the meats and such, but making it my career would be difficult. I am trying to find a venue to get into upon graduate (last year left, yay!). I am completely in love with the all aspects of business, particularly the operations level. I've thought about places such as Starbucks, my uncles glass corporation (installation and whatnot) but I can't find something I am passionate about. Any have any interesting suggestions to this conundrum? I don't want to get any specialized degrees (M.D., J.D. or otherwise) and I certainly have no interest in doctoral level work. Just an industry that I can find stability, work hours, good salary, ok quality.
