How to get spray paint off glass windows?
How to get spray paint off glass windows? The idiots that flipped the house we just bought used spray paint to cover the windows in the bathroom.. instead of tinting them or using frosted glass. I need to know how to get the crap off so I can clean it up before we put window tinting on it. Any ideas? Thanks for all your help.

- try glass cleaner and some really fine steel wool
- Have you tried to scrape it?
- Glass cleaner and a razor blade. It's time consuming though. Good luck.
- Paint thinner might work? That sucks :[ Lazy people and their stupid ideas!
- use a single edge razor in a scraper. and scrape it off. it will come off easily
- Use solvent and razor blades to scrape it off
- razorblade and paint thinner.
- Try Windex and a single edge razor blade.
- The best way is to scrape if off with a sharp paint scraper or a razor blade.
- you can use paint thinner or a razor and scrape it off
- hi..i used nail polish remover but sounds like lots of glass..there is a good paint stripper maybe it would work..tyr home depot or hardware 4 it
- There are a few options. If you have proper ventilation, you can rub the window with mineral spirits on a rag. If you don't like the chemicals, fine steel wool may should also help (0 - 000).
- I wouldn't use steel wool! Any petroleum based probuct will work. Lighter fluid is probably the best. You can always get a single edge razor blade and scrape it off, then clean it with a Windex type product after.
- industrial/commercial strength Greased Lightning...you get it at Lowe's and Home Depot...i SWEAR to you---it take the paint off of ANYTHING!!!!!!!! and wear rubber gloves, because it will eat you alive. spray it on, let it set for a minute, then wipe it off, paint and all. it will streak, so you will probably want to finish cleaning with a glass cleaner
- windex and a scrubby =D
- Get a razor blade and some paint thinner and start scraping. More then likely you will be able to get the paint off with just the razor but the paint thinner will help.
- best way for the surrounding wood and paint is not to use a stripper of any kind. steel wool will scratch your trim work when you get near the edge. so best thing you can use is a razor blade and scrape it off. sorry to make you work hard but really is the best way that i know.
- Use a utility knife with a straight edge razor. Scrape off as much as you can then clean it with paint thinner/remover. Scrape some more, then more thinner/remover. Repeat until clean! Lots of time but this will work!
- I had the same problem! I used a paint scraper and windex. It took some time but did not damage the trim in any way! Good Luck!
- Use a single edge razor, held at a 45 degree angle to scrap it off, then clean with plain newspaper & white vinegar. You can usually get small, unprinted newspaper rolls cheap from your local newspaper. Babs
- You can get a window scraper at wallmart. Its like a big razorblade with a handle. Just make sure to check the curve and use the outside of the curve against the window to avoid scratching the glass. DONT USE PAINT THINNER! it will make a mess and is unnecessary. Windex will do fine to help out.
